Can I actually drive into Venice? Where do I park?

No—you cannot drive into Venice's historic center. The city is car-free, built on islands connected by bridges and canals. What's a ZTL zone, and will I get fined?

ZTL (Zona Traffico Limitato) are restricted traffic zones in Italian city centers—cameras automatically fine unauthorized drivers €50-100+ per violation. Venice's Mestre area and nearby towns like Padua have ZTLs. Look for circular signs with 'ZTL' and a red circle. GPS sometimes routes you through them—ignore it.
