The international driver's license has to be validated by obtaining the endorsement from the Automobile Association in Sri Lanka. Please bring your driver license and IDP to Automobile Association (AA) of Ceylon in Colombo in advance to get your IDP verified (endorsed). It will need the following documents: Clear scan copy of your IDP (front side & inner photo attached page), clear scan copy of your passport and a clear passport-size photograph of yourself. It’ll take several days to get the endorsement based on the time and date you visit their office.
Sri Lankan Temporary Driving Permit + International Driving Permit (IDP)
Please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation. You must present your original driving licence together with the original IDP at the counter — photocopies or scanned copies are not accepted.
For international renters/drivers, an international driver's license and a valid passport are essential. The international driver's license must be validated by obtaining the endorsement from the Automobile Association in Sri Lanka. And a fee of 8,000.- L
